Tribal Energy Solutions Achieves 501(c)(3) Status to Advance Tribal Energy Sovereignty

Scottsdale, AZ – Tribal Energy Solutions is proud to announce it has officially been granted 501(c)(3) nonprofit status by the IRS—a major milestone in its mission to help Tribal communities achieve energy independence, sustainability, and long-term economic resilience.
Founded on the belief that access to clean, reliable energy is a cornerstone of sovereignty and self-determination, this designation enables Tribal Energy Solutions to pursue grant funding, expand partnerships, and offer tax-deductible opportunities for donors who share its vision.
“Tribes across the country face urgent energy challenges, from outdated infrastructure to limited access to clean power,” said Jeremy Hayward, Board Chair of Tribal Energy Solutions. “Becoming a 501(c)(3) allows us to scale our work and bring real solutions to the communities that need them most.”
Tribal Energy Solutions provides technical assistance, workforce training, and collaboration opportunities to strengthen Tribal energy infrastructure and advance clean energy development. Its new nonprofit status opens doors to greater engagement with philanthropic organizations, federal agencies, and industry partners—ensuring Tribal voices lead in America’s clean energy transition.
Current Tribal Energy Solutions funding projects include stopgap and flex funding for the Ojo Encino Chapter House to improve clean energy grant administration, refurbishment of an off-grid power system for a local family to restore reliable electricity, and energy efficiency and solar PV upgrades at the White Horse Lake Chapter House to reduce utility costs and environmental impact. Each project supports local employment and long-term maintenance to sustain community benefits.
